TEAM STEAM - Driver Bio - Bill Dempsey

Bill Dempsey resides in Shirley, MA. He has been involved in drag racing since he was six years old. his father first introduced him to the sport. They started out at a small drag strip in Orange, MA. From there, his dad was bracket racing a fiat Topelino at the local tracks of New England Dragway and Lebanon Valley.
Through the years he drove many different cars from a Chevelle SS to a front engine dragster and a super comp dragster. Driving a jet powered dragster is an ideal opportunity and a dream come true. He compares it to the thrill he experienced when he parachuted out of a plane.
Bill graduated from Monty Tech High School in 1977. This increased his fascination with performance vehicles and making them go fast. He has perfected his knowledge of all types of race cars with lots of hands on experience. He has always built and maintained his own cars from frame to engine.
He was the crew chief for the alcohol funny car "The Boston Strangler" in 1991 and 1992. During his time as the crew chief on this car it set the speed record at New England Dragway. The car went 5.960 at 231.71 MPH. After his success with "The Boston Strangler", Bill was invited back to speak to the students at his high school to show them what they can do with a technical school education.
Bill Became involved with the Jet Cars when he met Pat Davidson, former driver of the Under Pressure jet funny car and now current owner and driver of the Under Pressure jet ambuulance. He met Mario Carranca then also. Mario owned the Phantom and Super Mario jet funny cars. Bill crewed for both these cars and then got licensed in, and drove the Super Mario car in 2003.
Bill's biggest fans are his wife Susan and their two sons, Billy and Waylon. Both their sons have served in the military and he is very grateful to have them at the track on occasion to crew for him. Drag racing has always been a family event for the Dempseys.
Bill is currently working as a fleet manager for the Lorden Oil, in Ayer,MA
Bill is very grateful to KC and Linda for the opportunity to drive for them. The fan's reaction to his team, especially the kids, has been a great satisfaction and just one of the many reasons he loved running these cars. He drove the Super Chief and Adrenaline Rush jet cars before the innovative design of his current ride, the Chattanooga Choo Choo. he has been made to feel right at home and always confident of his safety in the hands of KC and Linda. They are wonderful people and have made driving a very positive experience and lots of fun.
